Maybe I'm thinking too far ahead, trying to increase compatibility with the big star weapons too soon, because I find myself playing the game on easy, which I never did in any Warriors game before Orochi 3.

Just make sure to take out Sima Yi and by the time he appears you should have 500 kills. Time: 4:50, leaving like 6 minutes. Location: Where the ambush against the Takeda calvary happens. You must be playing on Hard difficulty or higher. You must complete the objectives as the character you want the weapon for and no others. 
For example, if you need to get 500 KOs, you have to get 500 KOs as that character and not your total KO count.
