There are no English translations that I recommend (no Griffith, no Max Muller). Vedas must be learnt under the guidance of a guru alone, after taking a dīkṣā. Lagu dangdut. No other way. Even for non-English translations, they must be only used as an inspiration to seek a guru for in-depth study later on. Phonetics and correct pronunciation are inseparable from the Vedas, and therefore verbal/oral communication is the only way to learn them.

You can read translations by many Western scholars and make what you want of them, but generally you'll end up with different interpretation than what the schools of Hinduism teach/believe in. Unfortunately, very few people actually read/understand the vedas - including most Hindus. There were English translations done in the 1800s by Griffith and Mueller, which are pretty terrible. HOWEVER - the Rigveda was just translated, in its entirety, by a pair of world-class grammarians who worked on the project for 15 years. The volume is prohibitively expensive (it's priced like an encyclopedia) so the best way to access it is through a university library, as every major university will certainly be acquiring a copy of it. Vedas were not meant to be translated and every translation is deficient.
That said, there are some good ones: • Ralph T.H. Griffith's classic full translation of the Rigveda. The best thing about this translation is that it's metrically accurate, which means that you can chant the hymns in English in the same rhythm as you would chant them in Sanskrit. It's for free. Macdonell's translation of selected hymns from the Rigveda. Again this is metrically accurate and contains introductory notes on all the important gods of the Rigveda.

It's for free. • The three volume full translation by Stephanie W. Jamison and Joel P. Brereton, both are excellent scholars. They do not reproduce the metre but take great pains to translate the meaning of the text accurately. This translation has a lengthy introduction and introductory notes for every hymn!
